Torbus Puzzles

Types of Puzzles

There are two types of Torbus Puzzles and a Toroid Puzzle.:

Type 1 Torbus has two types of interlocked rings, a Mobius ring, and Anti-Mobius rings. The puzzle will have only one Mobius ring and may have several Anti-Mobius rings. An Anti-Mobius ring is a double looped ring that exists after the Mobius ring is cut from the toroid. Click here to see the configurations of type 1 Torbus puzzles

Type 2 Torbus is similar to the first type but the double loop rings are cut to form two washer type rings. Click here to see the configurations of type 2 Torbus puzzles

The Toroid Puzzle (another puzzle type) is similar to the second type of Torbus Puzzle (the same spiral cut is made and bisected) except there is no Mobius ring. The interlocked rings are also bisected. Click here to see the configurations of Toroid puzzles

The Torbus puzzle may have many different innovative arrangements when splayed. An arrangement of splayed rings can be fixed in place to form unique figurines. Several type 2 Torbus puzzles when linked together, as a chain, increase the puzzle complexity and solution difficulty. A rather interesting triple interlock puzzle is formed with three of the type 2 Torbus Puzzles or two type 2 Torbus Puzzles and one Toroid Puzzle. A selected sample of Torbius puzzles are shown, all the examples are cut from a torus (Toriod with a circular cross section). The same cut can be made in any Toriod, that is the cross section may be a square, a triangle, etc. The puzzles are made from ridged or flexible materials; various types of wood with unique grain structures, to plastics and metals and can be finished or unfinished.
